Rejuvenating the Appearance of Cultural Heritage Using Color and Imaging Science Techniques
نویسنده
چکیده
Many works of art have undergone undesirable changes in color since initial creation. The use of spectral or colorimetric imaging, optical models such as Kubelka-Munk turbid-media theory, sample creation using colorants with similar optical behavior to the artist’s materials, and color-image processing has enabled the simulation of a work of art before the color change. This paper describes this approach and demonstrates it use on paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and Georges Seurat.

متن کاملAnalytical Imaging of Cultural Heritage by Synchrotron Radiation and Visible Light - near Infrared Spectroscopy
Imaging is an important tool for analyzing cultural heritage. Due to its delicate nature, the analysis presents numerous technical challenges, probably the most important of which is its requirement for non-destructive and non-invasive investigation. In this study, two techniques used in the analysis of cultural heritage are presented. The first one, synchrotron radiation x-ray fluorescence, is...

This paper presents a discussion on different techniques that can be used for the analysis of multispectral images (i.e., images taken in more than three spectral bands) that are acquired in the context of Cultural Heritage or Archaeological studies. False Color imaging, Blind Source Separation methods and techniques based on the use of Artificial Neural Networks are discussed. Examples are pre...

متن کامل3D Point Cloud Model Color Adjustment by Combining Terrestrial Laser Scanner and Close Range Photogrammetry Datasets
3D models obtained with advanced survey techniques such as close-range photogrammetry and laser scanner are nowadays particularly appreciated in Cultural Heritage and Archaeology fields. In order to produce high quality models representing archaeological evidences and anthropological artifacts, the appearance of the model (i.e. color) beyond the geometric accuracy, is not a negligible aspect. T...
